Dr. Mallika Nocco receives leadership and early career extension awards

In May, Dr. Mallika Nocco received the Louise Hemstead Leadership award that recognizes a CALS faculty or staff member who demonstrates passion for advancing agriculture through innovation and cooperation. The award is in honor of Louise Hemstead, who used her CALS education to build a successful leadership career in the dairy industry. As Chief Operating Officer, Louise oversaw all operational aspects of CROPP Cooperative/Organic Valley and served as president of the Cooperative’s wholly owned subsidiary, Organic Logistics, the Cooperative’s distribution arm. We are inspired by Louise Hemstead’s story and honored to be aligned with her legacy and path.

In June, Dr. Mallika Nocco was also awarded the Early Career Award in Extension/Outreach/Engagement from the University Council on Water Resources (UCOWR), a consortium of academic institutions and affiliates invested in water resources research, education, and outreach. This national award is given each year to an early career (< 6 years) academic with an exemplary extension portfolio focused on water with demonstrated impacts and innovations of extension work. Dr. Nocco is thrilled to accept this award and be in the fantastic company of previous awardees across the country. We also highly recommend the UCOWR conference for people interested in water research and extension.
